Region

Le Mas Provençal can be found in Régusse, within walking distance of the medieval village center. Régusse has a bakery, pharmacy, supermarket with gas station, restaurants and bars, sports fields and the beautiful mills.

It enjoys an excellent location, in the heart of the Haut-Var Verdon region, between sea, mountains and countryside. The Var department is one of the most beautiful, quiet and purest regions in the South of France with beautiful nature reserves.

We are located near the gorges of the Verdon, the Grand Canyon and the beautiful bright blue lake Ste Croix (15 to 30 min by car) surrounded by picturesque villages. Here one discovers life as God in France.

A village full of character, nestled at the foot of a majestic peat rock, sculpted by the waters of the river Cassole, which flows down waterfalls, a shelter for troglodyte caves. Beautiful fountains, green theatre, 19th century wash house, 15th century bell tower, 12th century church, village square with tall plane trees, small bistros around the fountains, lovely little streets, large Provencal crib.

Low Verdon Gorges (15 km)

The low and middle Verdon gorges are located between the barrage of Sainte-Croix and Vinon sur Verdon. Their cliffs are not as high as those of the Grand Canyon du Verdon but still impressive. You can hike or sail with the boats. Departure of the boats at Quinson (both riversides) and at Esparron sur Verdon. Near Baudinard you can see old charcoal fire ovens and there is also a botanical walk (sentier botanique). These fire ovens are typical for the Haut-Var region. Some hiking trails run under the trees, so also possible in the summer.

The village is well known for its castle and its two waterfalls. You can reach the high waterfall by the easy path (approx. 15 min) from the car parks. The second waterfall is less high but wider. It is more adventurous to reach. Ideal for exploring with children and swimming afterwards. It is also possible to organize the two waterfalls as a hike from Salernes.

High Verdon Gorges (Grand Canyon) (40 km)

Between Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Aiguines and Castellane, the Verdon River has created a fascinating and strange landscape with steep cliffs that rise more than 800m above the river. The high gorges can be visited on foot, by mountain bike, in a kayak or by car. You can also admire the flight of the vultures. These were reintroduced a few years ago in order to free the hard-to-reach places of carcasses.

The village stretches on more than 12,700 ha and that makes it one of the largest villages in France. In March, the almond trees are in bloom upon the snowy peaks of the Alps in the background. In July, the different shades of blue of the lavender fields alternate with the golden color of the wheat. In autumn, the different ochre shades of the ploughed fields play with the infinite purity of the blue sky. To visit in Valensole : lavender distillery, bee museum and various craftsmen.

Lake Sainte-Croix (20 km)

Large lake formed in 1975 by the construction of several barrages, to control the current of the Verdon river. Several nice little villages around the lake to visit : Sainte-Croix sur Verdon, Bauduen, Les Salles sur Verdon, Aiguines and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.  Along the lake you will certainly find a quit and nice beach or a private corner to relax or have a picnic. Please note !!! Fires and barbecues are prohibited from June to September and during dry periods.

Ideal place to start a trip by kayak or canoe, to swim or just to spend a lazy afternoon after a picnic under the trees. Not too crowded. Shaded parking. Snacks and drinks on site in summer.

Esparron is a nice little village with his lake situated at the exit of the low and middle Verdon gorges. Starting point for walks on foot or boat trips to Quinson. Count about 9 km on the water.

It is also better to book the boats, kayaks, pedalos or electric boats in summer (hourly, half-day or full-day).
